Dear Delegates, Advisors, Parents, and Esteemed Guests,

My name is Zack Ali, and I am honored to serve as Secretary-General for Southern California Model United Nations 2019. In our seventh year, Southern California Model United Nations is looking forward to building upon our legacy of quality and lively debate. We are full of anticipation to see all of our returning delegates and schools, and excited for any that plan to join us this year.

SCMUN 2019 prides itself on its unique committee offerings that provide every type of delegate with a committee that suits their interests. We cater to delegates of all experience levels, and delegates will have the ability to choose from large General Assemblies, mid-sized Economic and Social Councils, and intimate crisis committees. The committees of SCMUN 2019 will range from the Renaissance to modern-day Hollywood, and ensure that every delegate will have an educational experience while harnessing the spirit of Model United Nations.

At its core, Southern California Model United Nations seeks to provide an educational experience for our delegates rooted in diplomacy, research, and public speaking.  Our chairs and crisis staff are working tirelessly to provide background guides, plan crisis arcs, and develop delegate materials that demonstrate the excellence we seek at SCMUN. Moreover, SCMUN prides itself on the hands-on nature of our chairs, ensuring that every delegate regardless of experiences is able to grow during their weekend with us. From background guides to closing ceremonies, SCMUN will ensure that delegates gain knowledge, skill, and grow their passion for debate.

Registration is now open with a delegate fee of $65, and $35 for Novice committees. Financial aid is available for delegates that require it – we firmly believe that financial constraints should never prevent any student from having the opportunity to participate in MUN.

Delegates from the Greater Los Angeles area with little to no Model United Nations experience looking to grow their school’s program, seeking financial aid, or to attend SCMUN for the first time are encouraged to contact our Under Secretary-General of Community Outreach, Sarahi Juarez (, to learn how SCMUN can help your school make SCMUN a reality.

Please reach out to us with any questions you may have, we hope to see you in March.

Fight on!

Secretary-General Zack Ali
