Dear Delegates,

My name is Saloni Mahajan, and I am so excited to serve as the Secretary-General for SCMUN 2025. SCMUN is a unique opportunity to foster intellectual growth and diplomacy in our youth. This coming conference marks over a decade since our very first Southern California Model United Nations conference, which has proven to be a consistent tradition of lively intellectual debate and collaborative camaraderie.

SCMUN 2025 will be held from Saturday, April 5, to Sunday, April 6, on the University of Southern California campus in Los Angeles. Our team looks forward to creating a purposeful and intellectually stimulating conference for our delegates who are committed global citizens seeking to create innovative solutions for current issues that are so pertinent in our world.

This year’s committees will explore a theme of equity, through the General Assembly (GA), Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Specialized, and Novice committee formats. For some delegates, that will come via debating on improving access to education and nutritious foods for youth across the world in the United Nations Children’s Fund. For others, that may come through the exploration of health and safety in conflict zones through the Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee. Regardless, we hope that delegates walk away from this experience having learned something, not just about the world that they live in, but about themselves as global citizens.

On a final note of appreciation, SCMUN would not be possible without our Secretariat and staff who have volunteered their time to ensure that this conference not only runs as smoothly as possible, but also serves as a fun and valuable educational experience.

I look forward to meeting you all in April. Until then, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns and as always, fight on!

Saloni Mahajan, Secretary-General
