Welcome from the Secretary-General

Dear Delegates, Advisors, Parents, and Esteemed Guests,

My name is Rahul Francis, and it is my distinct pleasure to serve as Secretary-General for Southern California Model United Nations 2018. After a truly successful SCMUN 2017, our team is excited to make SCMUN 2018 the best one yet.

We are working tirelessly to ensure that every delegate will be able to participate in a committee that piques his or her interest. From traditional General Assemblies to the Economic and Social Council to Specialized Bodies, SCMUN 2018 will offer delegates a diverse selection to choose from. Each delegate, regardless of prior experience, will have a chance to participate in an immersive weekend of debate that suits their skill level.

Additionally, SCMUN prides itself on providing an immersive and educational experience so that students will get a peek into the room where it happens and have a chance to simulate the art of the trade through intense debate and diplomacy.  Our team of chairs and crisis directors is working to develop insightful background guides, crisis arcs, and delegate resources to ensure every delegate can have a constructive, intriguing committee experience. Between the international-relations focused activities outside of committee and the detailed feedback the staff provides, every delegate will grow as a future diplomat during their time at SCMUN!

Registration will open on August 1 and the early registration fee is $55 per delegate. Financial aid is available for delegates that require it – we firmly believe that financial constraints should never prevent any student from having the opportunity to participate in MUN.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions about SCMUN 2018 at sg@scmun.org. We hope to see you in late March!

Best Regards,

Rahul Francis
