This committee provides a place for governments and organizations to discuss challenges connected to hunger, farming, and nutrition. The CFS creates guidelines and recommendations that countries can choose to follow when looking to improve food security. Core responsibilities and goals include ending hunger, improving nutrition, supporting crop farming, and making agricultural food systems more sustainable. Through cooperation and collaboration of shared ideas, delegates will work to build a world where every country has reliable access to enough healthy food for their citizens.

Agriculture is an important part of life around the world. Countries trade food, farming equipment, animals, and other products across borders every day. While this trade is beneficial in helping countries get the food and resources they want, it can also create obstacles. For example, pests and diseases can spread from one country to another through food or animals. To manage these risks, countries use border controls to decide what agricultural products can enter or leave their country. These controls can include inspections, health and safety checks, and requiring permits for specific products. However, countries must find a balance between keeping their agriculture safe and allowing food and other resources to move freely between countries. Strict border controls can sometimes make food more expensive and harder to access, while weak controls can increase the risks of pests and diseases. The CFS has to consider how countries can work together to create fair and effective cross-border rules.
